Nazareth Hospital Announces Terry Larkins Memorial Scholarship Winners
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA: Nazareth Hospital announced the winners of the Terry Larkins Memorial Scholarship, Cissy Benny, BSN, RN, and John Ryan, RN, at the Second Annual Nursing Excellence Award Ceremony held earlier this month at the hospital. The scholarship recipients were each awarded $2500 toward their academic nursing degrees. Benny is pursuing a master's degree in Nursing Education at Immaculata University; Ryan is studying for his BSN at Drexel University.
The Terry Larkins Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by her family, friend and colleagues to honor the memory of Terry Larkins, RN, BSN, MSN, CCRN. Larkins was a nurse educator and nursing director at Nazareth Hospital and later at St. Agnes Medical Center whose infectious passion for nursing and professional development influenced many of her colleagues. Larkins died in a car accident the fall of 2002.
"We are honored that we can support the professional development of Nazareth colleagues who are pursuing nursing degrees, in Terry's memory," said CEO Christina Fitz-Patrick. "The scholarship fund will enable Terry's legacy to resonate through the halls of Nazareth Hospital for years to come."
