Mercy Physician Network Appoints New CEO
Conshohocken, PA (June 19, 2012): Mercy Health System has announced the appointment of Robert Permut, MD, MSHA to the new role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mercy Physician Network where he will be responsible for enhancing physician relations and alignment, system growth, and clinical excellence. The Mercy Physician Network provides quality, person-centered care across the continuum of care through 40 office locations comprised of nearly 100 physicians in the Philadelphia region.
Dr. Permut joins Mercy Physician Network from Presence Health, a Catholic Health System in Mokena, IL, where he served as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and was responsible for providing leadership in facilitating physician alignment with oversight responsibility for 12 system hospital CMOs, quality, risk and patient safety as well as medical informatics. Prior to the merger that created Presence Health, Dr. Permut was CMO for Provena Health, a six-hospital Catholic health system where he had responsibility for the growth of the employed group practice, physician alignment initiatives, clinical integration and supervision of the hospital CMOs. Before joining Presence Health, Dr. Permut served as the CMO at Heartland Health System in St. Joseph, MO and Heartland Health’s Lewis-Gale Clinic in Salem, Virginia.
A board-certified psychiatrist and Distinguished Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Permut has also held clinical leadership responsibilities within large multi-specialty physician groups such as Advocate Medical Group in Park Ridge, Illinois, Sinai Medical Group in Chicago, and Methodist Health Group in Indianapolis, Wenatchee Valley Clinic in Washington, and the Santa Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic in California.

Dr. Permut earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati, where he also earned his medical degree. He also holds a Master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Colorado and completed his residency in psychiatry at the Mayo Clinic.
