Nazareth Hospital Names Mathew Mathew, MD, FACP, as Chief Medical Officer
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (July 31, 2012): Mathew Mathew, MD, FACP, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer at Nazareth Hospital, effective immediately.
“We welcome Dr. Mathew to Nazareth Hospital, where his leadership and expertise will aid our ongoing efforts to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care for our patients,” said Interim CEO Nancy Cherone, FACHE.
Dr. Mathew served as Associate Chief Medical Officer at Nazareth’s sister hospital, Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, since 2007 and was an active member of Mercy Philadelphia’s medical staff since 1998. During his tenure there, Dr. Mathew served in a variety of roles including Director of Medicine, Assistant Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program for Mercy Catholic Medical Center and Director of Hospitalist Services. Dr. Mathew is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Department of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine.
A graduate of the University of Kerala Medical School in India, Dr. Mathew completed his residency at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and board certified in Internal Medicine.
