NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (December 7, 2012): Nazareth Hospital Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine’s Clinical Coordinator, Jo Catanzaro, MSN, RN, CWOCN, is helping to educate nurses on wound care on both a national and a local basis. Catanzaro was a featured speaker the American Professional Wound Care Association’s Wound Care Review Course held in Philadelphia in late September. Catanzaro’s topic covered advanced wound management and intervention techniques for physicians and advanced practice nurses.
A leading expert in wound care, Catanzaro has authored articles in national medical journals and is frequently sought as a speaker. She served as adjunct faculty and Co-Director of the Wound, Continence and Ostomy Nursing Education Program at LaSalle University’s graduate School of Nursing.
Catanzaro is a guest speaker at Holy Family University’s School of Nursing and Allied Health Professionals, which launched a new course, “Wound Prevention and Care: Art, Science and Evidence-Based Nursing Practice” in 2011.
“It is such a privilege to have Jo Catanzaro share her experience and expertise with us,” said Lia van Rijswijk, MSN, RN, CWCN. Van Rijswijk, who teaches the class at Holy family, is a national expert in wound care and clinical editor of the journal Ostomy Wound Management.
