Mercy Health System Observes Heart Month with Free Health Fair and Informational Presentations
February is National Heart Month and Mercy Health System is holding a series of events to educate the community on better heart health.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, but heart disease is preventable and controllable. To educate the community, Mercy hospitals in the Philadelphia area are holding events on how to prevent heart disease by making healthy choices and managing their medical conditions.
On Tues., Feb. 19 at 6:00 p.m., Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital will hold a special Dine with the Docs program, “Chest Pain Q&As” featuring cardiologist and heart attack survivor John Blannett, M.D. The event is free and includes a complimentary dinner. Chest Pain Q&As will be held in Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital’s Medical Science Building, Norman N. Cohen, M.D. Auditorium, 1500 Lansdowne Ave., Darby, PA. To register, call 877.GO.MERCY.
Mercy Philadelphia Hospital will also hold a “Dine with the Docs” special edition luncheon on “Loving Your Heart” with cardiologist David Addley, D.O. on Sat., Feb. 23 at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Addley will discuss heart health and heart attacks. The program is free and includes a complimentary lunch and free giveaways. “Loving Your Heart” will be held in Mercy Philadelphia Hospital’s First Floor Cafeteria, 501 South 54th St., Philadelphia, PA 19143. Nazareth Hospital will host a free heart health seminar and dinner on Thursday, March 14 at 5:00 p.m. (check in at 4:30 p.m.). The program will cover heart disease prevention and treatment and offer attendees an opportunity to ask questions of the physicians. Speakers will include cardiologists Swarna Bheemreddy, M.D.(shown below) and Cheryl Leddy, M.D. The dinner and seminar are free. Call 866.NAZARETH to register.
