Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Now Offering Free Smoking and Tobacco Cessation Classes
Darby, PA (November 3, 2014): Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is proud to now offer a series of free smoking and tobacco cessation classes to individuals looking to quit smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and/or smokeless tobacco use.
Classes are designed to help smokers and tobacco users kick the habit by providing the knowledge, techniques and support they need to become tobacco free. Sessions include: understanding addiction, behavior change strategies, coping mechanisms for urges and stress, education on healthy lifestyle choices, access to resources for nicotine replacement therapy, and relapse prevention.
The Smoking and Tobacco Cessation Classes will take place on Wednesdays; from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the 2nd floor community room of the Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center, located at 1503 Lansdowne Avenue. The first series of classes will take place on November 12, 19 and December 3, 10 and 17. Registration for the program is required.
According to the American Cancer Society, tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States.
