Nazareth Hospital’s Acute Rehabilitation Program Earns Three-Year Reaccreditation by CARF International

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (October 20, 2014): CARF International announced that Nazareth Hospital has been accredited for a period of three years for its Acute Rehabilitation Program. The newest accreditation is the sixth consecutive three-year accreditation the international accrediting body has awarded to the Program since 1999.

Nazareth Hospital’s Acute Rehabilitation Program provides services for patients who have suffered functional loss due to disabling illnesses or injuries, such as a stroke, non-traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries, neuropathy and myopathy, hip fracture, major joint replacements, amputation, multiple sclerosis, multiple trauma and Parkinson's disease.

The Program’s services include rehabilitation medicine and nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational activities, speech and language pathology, social work and case management, and prosthetic training.

The CARF accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization's substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a three-year accreditation demonstrates that it has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has shown a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are measurable and of the highest quality.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
