Trinity Health Announced as the Name of Mercy Health System’s National Parent Organization

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, November 19, 2014 — Mercy Health System's parent organization has announced that it is now Trinity Health and revealed a new branding identity and strategy for the system for that emphasizes, more than ever, a people-centered approach to its service to individuals and communities.

"We are proud that Mercy Health System is a part of Trinity Health," said Susan Croushore, Interim President and CEO of Mercy Health System. "As we celebrate this historic moment, the symbolism of our national system's new logo inspires us. We are also proud of the way our ministry's collaborations in the larger system serve not only to strengthen Mercy's ability to provide the highest quality care to our communities, but that our efforts help strengthen other affiliates' ability to best serve those who rely on them, as well."

Doing business as CHE Trinity Health since the May 2013 merger of Catholic Health East and the former ministry of Trinity Health, Mercy Health System’s parent organization has finalized its name and fresh look as it moves past the post-merger integration phase into a strategic implementation phase focused on serving in a more people-centered way than ever before. A major goal continues to be strengthening local systems like Mercy Health System to ensure that they can continue to provide the best possible care to their communities, despite the challenges of an evolving health care environment.

“The benefits of being part of Trinity Health are behind the scenes, but numerous,” said Croushore. “Through our affiliation, we have ready access to resources and ideas that advance clinical quality and patient safety across the broad spectrum of care and which provide significant economies of scale that reduce costs. System resources like these address important needs and let us concentrate on our highest priorities — the people who come to us for health information or come through our doors for needed care."

Mercy Health System and Trinity Health’s shared mission is rooted in the Gospel and fully representative of their Catholic identity and faith traditions. Trinity Health's new purple and green logo depicts that mission symbolically, featuring a cross formed by the wings of four doves – symbols of love, peace and caring. Three purple doves, reflecting the Holy Trinity come together with a green dove, symbolizing the organization's openness to new partners and new ideas.

“Our national system’s new branding effort succeeds in telling our story and the story of all of its ministries,” said Croushore. “We offer faith-based care that is compassionate and healing as we work, together, to transform health in each of our communities and across the nation."
