Mercy Golf Classic Nets $128K for Cancer Care
Darby, PA (September 28, 2015) – Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals hosted the 21st Annual Mercy Golf Classic on September 21, raising $128,000 to benefit the Mercy Cancer Care program. More than 110 golfers and tennis players participated in the event, which also featured a tennis clinic and round robin tournament this year. The Mercy Golf Classic was held at the championship golf course of the Aronimink Golf Club.
“We have made it a priority to improve access to high-quality cancer care so that residents in our communities can stay close to home for screenings, diagnostics, treatment, support and survivorship services,” says Mercy Golf Classic Co-Chair Kathryn Conallen, who is also CEO and senior vice president of acute care operations at Mercy Health System. “Thanks to our dedicated supporters, the Mercy Golf Classic has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars towards this cause.”
Dr. Rene Rothstein-Rubin, a hematologist and oncologist who also served as co-chair, adds, “These funds will help us to provide much needed transportation for our patients that have no means to get to their treatments and also to assist with cancer program enhancements that will help us better serve all of our patients.”
Premier Partners of the Mercy Golf Classic were the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union and the Stevens & Lee law firm. Platinum Sponsors included Crothall Healthcare, Inc., Healthcare Receivable Specialists, Inc., Post & Schell, PC, and Sunray Drugs.
