Mercy Health System Announces Demolition Project of Unoccupied Properties

Darby, PA (May 11, 2015): Mercy Health System (MHS) has announced that demolition work of three unoccupied properties on the campus of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital (MFH), including Edmonda Hall and houses at 554 Lansdowne Avenue and 14 Baily Road, will begin on Monday, May 18. The project will be conducted on the weekdays, between 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., and last approximately eight weeks. MHS has contracted Empire Services for the project.

The demolition work will include capping of utility laterals; removal of potentially hazardous materials, such as lead-based paint and asbestos, in accordance to industry standards; foundation demolition and backfill; and dust control. Demolition personnel will wear protective gear as part of normal safety precautions. Once the buildings are demolished, the grounds will be filled, seeded and used as additional green spaces to enhance the MFH campus.

MFH will maintain normal operations during this time and focus on providing high-quality patient care.
