Mercy Health System SEPA Announces Promotions for Senior Leadership
Brian Burgess Appointed SVP of Strategy and Business Development; Gary Zimmer, MD, Appointed SVP and CEO of MHS’ Clinically Integrated Network
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (July 28, 2015) - Mercy Health System (MHS) of Southeastern Pennsylvania is pleased to announce the promotion of two executives within the health system. Brian Burgess has been appointed senior vice president, Strategy and Business Development and Gary Zimmer, MD, has been appointed senior vice president and CEO of Mercy Health System’s Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). Both positions report directly to Susan Croushore, president and CEO of MHS.
“Both Brian and Gary bring with them a wealth of healthcare experience and strategic business development skills,” said Croushore. “As the healthcare industry continues to rapidly change, both will provide strong leadership for Mercy Health System as we continue to serve as a compassionate and transforming healing presence in our communities.”
In his new position, Burgess is responsible for the continued development of Mercy’s strategic plan, and supports leadership on a variety of projects including the ambulatory plan, senior strategy, and service line initiatives. He will provide strategic leadership for planning, business development, marketing and communication. Burgess joined Mercy Health System as Vice President for Planning and Business Development in November 2014.
In his expanding role, Dr. Zimmer will be responsible for Mercy’s Clinically Integrated network which includes the Mercy Physician Network (MPN) and Mercy Accountable Care (ACO) organization. He will provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure we achieve our quality, patient experience, physician and colleague engagement, growth and financial goals. Gary is also responsible for Trinity Health Partners as the regional executive. Dr. Zimmer joined Mercy as Vice President, Physician Integration, where he has focused his efforts on physician alignment and growing the CIN.
