Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals Expand Capabilities to Treat Cardiac Arrhythmias
Advanced cardiac electrophysiology services now offered
Darby (October 7, 2015): Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals have announced the expansion of cardiac electrophysiology services to treat cardiac arrhythmias with the addition of Dr. Darius Sholevar.
Dr. Sholevar joins Mercy from the award-winning cardiac care team at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He joins Dr. Marino Leonardi from Mercy Cardiology in providing electrophysiology services.
In addition to offering procedures such as diagnostic electrophysiology, simple catheter ablation, pacemaker implantation, and implantable cardioverter defibrillators, Dr. Sholevar will also perform complex catheter ablation for the treatment of more severe arrhythmias. These procedures are all performed in the full-service electrophysiology lab at Mercy Fitzgerald.
“Welcoming Dr. Sholevar to our own award-winning heart and vascular team is the latest way we are ensuring that our communities have access to the most advanced cardiac care,” says Susan Cusack, executive director of Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals.
Both hospitals have been recognized by The Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures namely in the areas of heart attack and heart failure, as well as a recipient of the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines achievement award for heart failure.
