New Medicare Rating Ranks Mercy Home Health Among the Top  Home Health Agencies in the Country and the Highest Rated in the Region

Mercy Home Health in top three percent nationwide earning a 5-Star Rating

starsPhiladelphia, PA (February 11, 2016) – Mercy Home Health has received a perfect 5-Star Rating for overall “Patient Satisfaction” from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Instituted by Medicare in July 2015, CMS implemented this new patient rating system to encourage consumers to compare the quality of home health agencies throughout the country.

Out of the 9,000 home health agencies surveyed nationwide, only 3% received 5 stars meaning Mercy Home Health was one of only 239 agencies that earned a five-out-of-five stars ranking.

“Mercy Home Health's prestigious rating is a direct reflection on the compassionate care delivered by our clinical teams, the reliable support from the administrative teams, and the detailed attention provided by managers each and every day putting our patient’s first and ensuring their needs are consistently met,” said Carol Quinn CEO of Mercy Home Health.

This latest distinction builds on Mercy Home Health's track record of high rankings from CMS. Last year, the agency, which cares for patients across the Delaware Valley, received a 4.5 Star Rating (out of five) for "Quality of Care” from CMS. Mercy Home Health exceeded the national and state averages for both rating programs placing the agency at the top of rankings in the region.

For this new Patients Satisfaction Rating, CMS surveyed 9,000 home health agency patients throughout the country between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. These patients responded anonymously to a 34-question survey about their satisfaction with their home health care providers. The ratings were calculated based on scores covering professionalism, communication, patient safety, overall care and recommendations to friends and family,

Mercy Home Health embodies its Catholic-based Mission to provide compassionate care and community access to improve the health of individuals and communities including those who are poor and underserved. Mercy Home Health gives more than $1.2 Million of total annual free care to those in need.

“It’s a tremendous honor and I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedicated service our colleagues are providing to our patients,” said Quinn.
