Valley View Participant Dora LaSala celebrated her 100th Birthday with fellow participants, family, and friends on Saturday, June 18. Dora has quite the story from the last century of life. She escaped the rise of Nazi power in Poland and survived a severe childhood illness that robbed her of her hearing. She has been very successful in life despite the challenge of living as a deaf woman in the early 20th century. 6 ABC and PHL 17 joined in on the fun on Saturday and shared the story during several broadcasts over the weekend.

Julia married and raised five children and was in the work force, as a chef and daycare teacher, until she was 87 years old. Julia has been a valued participant of the Mercy LIFE program since 2007.
