Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals, together as Mercy Catholic Medical Center (MCMC), have once again been recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Philadelphia Metro Area by U.S. News & World Report. MCMC joins Nazareth Hospital in the top 23 list (out of 96 hospitals in the metro area). MCMC was also recognized for high-performance in the specialty area of urology. Nazareth Hospital was recognized as a high-performer in neurology and neurosurgery.

Gerald Moyer, Director of Plant Operations at Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, has led hospitalwide efforts to reduce the carbon footprint and improve the energy efficiency of Mercy’s 613,500-foot-square building, which helped it earn an Energy Star rating of 99, the highest possible, from the Environmental Protection Agency for 2011.

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital's Cardiac Patient Recounts Visit From Angel

In August, William “Bill” Pitts, a local man from Darby, was reunited with the Mercy Fitzgerald physicians, nurses and EMT personnel who helped save his life after her suffered a cardiac arrest and crashed his tow truck in front of Darby Fire Company #1.

Recently, Delco Times did a follow-up interview with Bill, and spoke with him about his recollection of that day. During the interview, Bill shared his memory of being visited by St. Michael the Archangel. Read the full story.
