The Osteopathic Traditional Rotating Internship at Mercy Catholic Medical Center offers a tailored experience based on the trainees future residency training plan.
The Internship offers a broad based foundation to fortify understanding of multiple disciplines of medicine and surgery. Simultaneously, a robust lecture series augments the clinical rotations.
Residents rotate through 13 four-week rotation blocks per academic year. Here is how the resident rotation schedule is arranged:
Internal Medicine Wards – 4-5 blocks
Internal Medicine Night Float – 1 block
Medical Intensive Care Unit - 1 block
General Surgery – 1 block
Emergency Medicine – 1 block
Ambulatory Primary Care – 1 block
Electives – 3-4 blocks
Vacation – 3 weeks (taken during elective months or ER)
