The Emergency Department at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital serves the Delaware County and West and Southwest Philadelphia communities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, treating more than 42,000 patients each year.
Staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and specially trained emergency nurses, the department provides rapid and quality care for both minor and major emergencies.
For those emergencies with unique demands—such as burns, severe trauma or spinal cord injuries—patients are rapidly transferred via ambulance to the appropriate care facility.

For the speediest treatment of minor emergencies during the Emergency Department's busiest hours, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital offers Fast Care, available every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Special program in toxicology
Specially trained toxicologists are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to treat medical emergencies such as overdoses, and poisonous bites and stings.
