Spiritual Care at Mercy Philadelphia Hospital
Mercy Philadelphia’s board-certified chaplains offer compassionate pastoral presence and counseling to patients, families and employees who are experiencing stress, suffering or other spiritual and emotional needs. Chaplains can facilitate connections with a patient’s own minister, pastor or Imam.
A chapel is located on the first floor of the hospital and is open at all times for prayer and reflection.
Mass is celebrated in the chapel each Wednesday at 8 a.m. Patients can view the Mass and other services on Channel 65.
Holy Communion is distributed daily by chaplains or volunteer Eucharistic ministers.
Ecumenical Prayer Services and Commemorations
Various prayer services for people of all faiths are held on special days throughout the year. Announcements are posted on bulletin boards and outside the chapel.
Morning and Evening Prayer
A prayer is broadcast each morning and evening over the hospital public address system.
Prayer and fellowship is shared in the first floor chapel each Wednesday at noon.
Centering Prayer Meditiation is held the second Tuesday of each month in the on-call room next to the seventh floor conference room.
Soothing harp music is offered in the first floor chapel on the first Tuesday of each month and various times throughout the month in the nursing units for patients and staff.
Mindfulness meditation and guided meditation opportunities are available upon request.
