Ajay Pillai, MD, completed a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the Drexel University College of Medicine. He followed with board certification in all three of those disciplines, as well as internal medicine. Dr. Pillai received his medical degree from Topiwala National Medical College & B.Y.L. Nair Charitable Hospital in Mumbai, India, with a specialty in tuberculosis and chest diseases.
Treating Sleep Disorders
When treating his patients, Dr. Pillai believes more positive results are achieved by taking into consideration his patients values and beliefs and not just treating the symptoms. If desired, he provides his patients with alternative approaches to controlling sleep disorders, such as non-mechanical ways to improve conditions or non-pharmaceutical interventions for insomnia. He has helped many obese patients treat obstructive sleep apnea, obesity hypoventilation syndrome as well as a variety of other sleep disorders.
Dr. Pillai is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He has co-authored a number of clinical articles and abstracts as well as presented papers, many related to respiratory diseases and pulmonary medicine.
