Cancer Care Nurse Navigators
Oncology Nurses Provide Cancer Support
In an effort to provide individualized care, every patient with cancer, at a Mercy Health System hospital, has access to a Cancer Care Nurse Navigator or coordinator. This person is a registered nurse with specialized training in cancer care. The Cancer Care Nurse Navigator helps guide patients through the diagnosis, treatment and recovery process and serves as a central resource to answer questions, facilitate appointments, coordinate care and provides you with the support you need.
What is a Nurse Navigator?
The Cancer Care Nurse Navigator acts a liaison between the newly diagnosed cancer patient and the Mercy Cancer Care team, which is consists of the referring physicians, the mammography technician, surgeon, pathologist, radiation oncologist, medical oncologist and psychologist. Cancer Care Nurse Navigators assist you and your family members from the time the suspected cancer is diagnosed through treatment and follow-up, providing support at critical points, and providing information on various support services available to them.
At Mercy Health System, we are committed to ensuring that you and your family have the information and support you need to make informed decisions about your diagnosis and treatment.
