Lung Cancer

The Mercy Lung Cancer team is made up of expert Pulmonologists, Thoracic Surgeons, Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists and Pathologists. Together, the team assesses each individual patient’s disease and work with you to develop a personalized care plan.

Collaboration between our Pulmonologists, Thoracic Surgeons and Radiologists allows Mercy to offer minimally invasive diagnostic testing.

Once a lung cancer diagnosis is positive, surgical options may include Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS).

Radiation options may include Image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), which delivers the maximum radiation directly to the tumor, sparing healthy tissue.

Many chemotherapy options are available, depending on the specific patient’s type of cancer. Options formerly available only at large academic medical centers are now available at Mercy, through our clinical trials affiliation with the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Network at Jefferson.

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is the deadliest type of cancer for both men and women. More people die of lung cancer than of breast, colon and prostate cancers combined. Learn more in our Health Library.
