Cancer Care Coordinator
In an effort to provide individualized care, every patient has a Cancer Care Coordinator or Nurse Navigator who is a registered nurse with specialized training in cancer care. The Cancer Care Coordinator helps guide patients through the diagnosis, treatment and recovery process. This person can be a central resource to answer questions, facilitate appointments, coordinate care and provide you with the support you need.
Your Cancer Care Coordinator acts a liaison between the newly diagnosed breast cancer patient, the referring physicians, the mammographer, surgeon, pathologist, radiation oncologist, medical oncologist and psychologist. Cancer Care Coordinators assist patients and their family members from the time the suspected cancer is diagnosed through treatment and follow-up, providing support at critical points, and providing patients and family members with information on various support services available to them.
