Diabetes Signs and Symptoms
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, risk factors for Type 2 diabetes include:
- older age
- obesity
- family history of diabetes
- prior history of gestational diabetes
- impaired glucose tolerance
- physical inactivity
- race/ethnicity
Diabetes is more common among African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, American Indians, and some Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Early detection is crucial in fighting diabetes. If experiencing one or more of these symptoms, consult a physician immediately about possible diabetes concerns.
- Excessive thirst
- Frequent urination
- Rapid weight loss
- Extreme hunger
- Fatigue, weak and tired
- Blurred vision
- Frequent infections of the skin
- Slow healing cuts and bruises
- Tingling and numbness in legs, feet and/or hands
- Drowsiness
