Emergency Services – Mercy Philadelphia Hospital

Mercy Philadelphia Hospital's Emergency Care Center serves 46,000 patients annually, making it one of the busiest emergency departments in the city of Philadelphia. Mercy Philadelphia Hospital's expanded Emergency Care Center includes separate entrances for ambulance patients and "walk-in" patients, with comfortable waiting and family support rooms. Fourteen state-of-the-art treatment rooms are available, as well as on-site x-ray equipment and a casting room. Mercy Philadelphia Hospital provides state-of-the-art monitoring and resuscitation.

The department utilizes bedside emergency ultrasound - a procedure performed by emergency physicians to detect select life-threatening conditions without the need to transport a patient to the Radiology Department.

Our Emergency Room and Specialized Stroke Unit are focused on providing rapid diagnosis and use the treatments and guidelines developed by the American Stroke Association to treat stroke patients.

Mercy Philadelphia Hospital's stroke program has been recognized by the American Stroke Association as a "Silver Award Winner".

Mercy Philadelphia Hospital's Emergency Services also features a FastTrack program for non-emergent care. FastTrack is located in an area separate from the Emergency Department to efficiently treat non-emergency patients. Backed by Emergency Department physicians, FastTrack is staffed by a certified registered nurse practitioner or physician assistant, a registration clerk, and support staff specifically designated to the service with physician support. FastTrack is available each day from noon to midnight.
