Mercy Suburban Geriatric Resource Center
Mercy Suburban Hospital's Geriatric Resource Center offers specialized programs that provide evaluation and treatment for various disorders and difficulties that are unique to aging, including forgetfulness, incontinence, and a noticeable increase in loss of balance.
The Centers highly trained medical team, which includes a geriatrician, a geriatric nurse specialist and a social worker, conducts the assessment, reviews the results with the family, and recommends an individualized care plan designed to help the patient remain as independent and productive as possible. A typical care plan may involve changes in medication, acquiring basic medical equipment for the home, using a personal care aide or other home care services, accessing community outreach programs, or referring to appropriate alternate living arrangements.
