Mercy Suburban Hospital - Outpatient Therapy

At Mercy Suburban Hospital we are dedicated to meeting the community's outpatient rehabilitation needs with excellence and compassion. Our team of highly qualified healthcare professionals work together to return individuals to their optimal health and well-being. Our philosophy is personal service and individualized programming. Each patient referred to our facility receives a comprehensive evaluation by a licensed therapist. Operating out of our state-of-the-art facilities, these professionals develop a treatment program that is specific to each individual's needs and goals. This program is constantly re-evaluated and modified as the individual progresses.

The services offered include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pediatric Therapy, Hand Therapy, Speech, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Industrial Health, Lymphedema Management, and Wound Care.

  • Physical Therapy’s goal is to promote, maintain, and preserve the physical function of individuals who have experienced a decline in their physical status. Physical Therapists help individuals decrease pain, increase strength and range of motion, and improve their functional mobility. They also strive to educate individuals so that they can take an active role in their healthcare
  • Occupational Therapy focuses upon maximizing independence in specific functional activities and life roles. Evaluations and guided treatment sessions are performed addressing the many aspects that affect how we live, work and play. Special attention is given to assess performance with self-care activities, cognition, vision, perception and sensory changes.
  • Hand and Upper Extremity Program: We have a certified hand therapist on staff that provides specialized rehabilitation for patients with injuries and conditions relating to the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulders. Patients may require hand and upper extremity rehabilitation as a result of fractures and dislocations, carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve conditions, tendon injuries, crush injuries, amputations and replantations, joint replacement for arthritis, congenital/birth conditions and overuse syndromes.   • Speech Pathology: The Speech Pathology department offers a full-service program to evaluate and treat pediatric and adult speech, language and swallowing disorders including dysphasia, voice, stuttering, laryngectomy, and augmentative communication.
  • Vestibular Rehabilitation: treats symptoms such as dizziness and balance disorders; as well as evaluates hearing and auditory response.
  • Industrial Health: provides programs to analyze and enhance safety in the workplace, tests worker capabilities relating to job requirement, and utilizes exercise and work simulation to safely return individuals to work.
  • Lymphedema Management/Manual Lymph Drainage/Complete Decongestive Therapy: Lymphedema Therapists are certified in the Vodder Method, which uses manual Lymph drainage, compression, and exercise to reduce swelling in extremities.
  • Wound Care: Treatment for all wounds, including lacerations, bed sores, diabetic foot sores and more.

The Center’s multidisciplinary team of masters- and doctorate-prepared healthcare professionals takes pride in the personal approach to customer service and excellent clinical care. The team is highly skilled in the evaluation and treatment of all injuries and is equipped to handle complex cases, as well as develop personalized exercise regimens, and evaluate adaptive equipment, braces and orthotic needs.

The skilled and caring staff members prepare individualized treatment plans for each patient, incorporating various pain relief modalities, manual techniques, and patient education, alongside therapeutic exercise, balance/ADL training, and therapy speech/swallowing dysfunction.

At the end of therapy, the Center continues to promote wellness and healthy lifestyles by encouraging patients to join its fitness program to maintain optimal health and achieve personal goals.
