The protrusion of an organ that usually occurs at the site of a previous surgical incision.

What Causes an Incisional Hernia?

Incisional hernias are caused when there is weakening or a tear at the site of a prior incision.

Symptoms of Incisional Hernia:

  • Swelling beneath the skin, usually around the incision
  • Pain or discomfort

Treatments for Incisional Hernia Offered

Incisional Hernia repair surgery in which hernias are “pushed back” and the weakened wall is repaired, usually using a mesh to reinforce the weakened abdominal wall. Surgery can be done laparoscopically.
