The Center For Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine
At Nazareth Hospital's outpatient Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, superior outcomes help patients avoid amputation and other complications. The Center boasts a 90% healing rate for all wounds, versus the national benchmark of 88% (as defined by Healogics.
At Nazareth -- the first hospital in Northeast Philadelphia to offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy -- a multidisciplinary panel of specialists including vascular surgeons, podiatric specialists, and plastic surgeons collaborate to salvage limbs and heal wounds once thought untreatable.
The Center's Medical Director and Program Director are board certified by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.
Our physician panel works with nationally certified (WOCN) nurses and HBOT-certified techs to help patients with:
- Diabetic wounds
- Arterial/ischemic wounds
- Collagen vascular disease
- Surgical wounds
- Venous stasis
- Pressure ulcers
- Radiation soft tissue injuries
For each patient, the team creates an individualized treatment plan tailored to his or her needs -- a plan that includes patient education, nutrition, physical therapy and more. Treatment plans may also include:
- The latest skin grafting advances
- Wound debridement
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy - a treatment in which the patient rests inside a pressurized chamber, breathing 100% oxygen, which promotes the body's healing mechanisms
The Center also offers an easy referral process; ongoing and regular communication with and progress updates for referring physicians; and free transportation for patients.
