Cancer Survivors Celebrate at Nazareth Hospital
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA: On Sunday, June 5, Nazareth Hospital oncology staff members held a luncheon in honor of the Hospital's cancer survivors. Over 80 former patients and family members joined Nazareth Hospital CEO Christina Fitz-Patrick at the "Thriving and Surviving"-themed event.
National Cancer Survivors' Day is an annual worldwide celebration of life; participants unite in this event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality. Nazareth was one of many care providers across the country and around the world hosting a celebration in the past week.
Nazareth Hospitals Cancer Survivors' Day committee, chaired by Cancer Nurse Navigator Terrie Cannon, BSN, RN, OCN; and Chief Radiation Technologist Candy McLaughlin, has hosted the event for over 16 years.
Nazareth Hospital's CEO, Christina Fitz-Patrick, welcomed the survivors and introduced the featured speakers: medical oncologist Lewis Rose, MD; and current cancer patient David Bickings, RN.
