Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Honored by Local Red Cross at 2012 Clara Barton Awards Reception
Philadelphia – The American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPA) Chapter honored Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital at its 2012 Clara Barton Awards Reception on May 16, 2012 at the Delaware County Community College STEM Center.
Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, located in Darby, received the Corporate Humanitarian Award in recognition of its high level of commitment to the communities it serves throughout Delaware County. Mercy has been supportive of the Red Cross in many ways, including providing temporary shelter for flood and disaster victims. Mercy paramedics work in conjunction with Red Cross Disaster Action Teams to ensure disaster victims are safe, comfortable and have the necessary resources to find temporary and permanent housing. For more than ten years, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital has provided office space for Red Cross Disaster volunteers as well as space for CPR training classes.
“With Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, we have an exceptional honoree whose commitment to the community is substantial and long term,” said Judge Renée Cardwell Hughes, American Red Cross SEPA Chapter Chief Executive Officer. “Our Chapter truly appreciates all of the work Mercy does in their communities and we hope that their contributions serve as an inspiration for others to get involved with the Red Cross and our community.”
Proceeds from the Clara Barton Awards support the life-saving work of the American Red Cross SEPA Chapter by assisting thousands of area residents each year through disaster relief and preparedness, Service to the Armed Forces, and health and safety trainings.
