Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Sets the Holiday Mood at Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
Darby, PA (December 10, 2012): The magic of the holidays kicked off on Thursday, December 6, as colleagues and community members gathered in front of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital (MFH) to participate in its annual tree lighting ceremony.
The night began with musical group, Sway, performing some favorite Christmas carols, as a live nativity scene took center stage.
MFH Executive Director/Administrator - Karen Javie led the official tree lighting saying, “Sometimes, in the midst of shopping lists, parties, and traveling plans, the real meaning of Christmas can be overlooked.”
She continued, “But sometimes, we need to take a moment and be reminded that this holiday is such a special time to gather with friends, family and loved ones and to really celebrate the joyous occasion.”
The official lighting commenced with the help of Mercy EMS squad members and the Darby and Yeadon Fire Companies.
MFH Vice President of Mission and Ministry Sister Donna Watto, RSM emceed the program.
The joyful event concluded with a special appearance by Santa Claus, and every attendee receiving a gift of a Christmas tree ornament. Community members were then invited to enjoy a delectable spread of cookies, desserts, hot chocolate and coffee.
