Nazareth Hospital Announces Fourth Annual Nursing Excellence Award Winners
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (May 31, 2013): During National Nurses’ Week, Nazareth Hospital recognized the winners of its fourth annual Nursing Excellence Awards. Executive Director/Administrator Nancy Cherone, FACHE, and Vice President, Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer Michael F. Beshel, MBA, MHA, BSN,RN-NE-BC, presented the awards recently at a special luncheon at the hospital.
Nursing Excellence Award winners were nominated by their peers and evaluated according to specific criteria by a selection committee. Honorees include:
Award of Excellence in Nursing Practice: Jozelle Woodard, RN, Endoscopy. This award is presented to the Registered Nurse who demonstrates excellence in nursing practice and delivers compassionate, person-centered care by applying knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines, critical thinking skills and clinical decision-making.
Rising Star Awards: Lauren Macdonnell, RN, Neuroscience Unit. These awards are presented to a novice nursing professional [graduation within 18 months] who delivers excellent care, exhibits great teamwork and passion for nursing, and actively works for performance improvement within the unit and by participation on councils.
Award for Advocacy: Teresa Noell, RN- SPU. This award is presented to the Registered Nurse who has made outstanding efforts in advocating for individuals or groups requiring our services.
Award for Nursing Leadership: Jackie Koenig, RN-ICU. This award is presented to the Registered Nurse who demonstrates excellence in leadership, as evidenced by strategy development and implementation and resource management.
Award for Nursing Support: Patrice Kelly, Neuroscience Unit. This award is presented to the nursing support professional who delivers excellent, person-centered care, advances teamwork, and models professional accountability.
Nursing Assistant of the Year: Janet Reed, NA, Orthopedic Unit. This award is presented to the Nursing Assistant who delivers excellent, person-centered care, advocates for patient safety, and fosters teamwork and communication.
“Our nursing staff provides excellent care to each of our patients. These awards recognize those who inspire their colleagues and lead by example,” said Beshel. “Congratulations to our award recipients.”
