Three Mercy Physician Network Practices Earn IBC Recognition for Quality Performance
Independence Blue Cross (IBC) has honored three Mercy Physician Network practice sites, Mercy Medical Associates at Springfield, Mercy Family Health Associates at 1575 North 52nd Street in North Philadelphia, and Mercy Primary Care at Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia for excellence in quality of patient care. The sites have been recognized for achieving “the highest rank in quality of care for the Quality Performance Measure (QPM) score program – measurement year 2011.” Mercy Primary Care at Cottman Avenue received this honor for the second consecutive year.
The Quality Performance Measures track preventive care and management of chronic diseases, including childhood and adolescent immunizations; child and adolescent well visits; cancer prevention in the areas of breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screenings; heart care (cholesterol management for patients with cardiovascular conditions); asthma care (use of control medications for patients with chronic persistent asthma); and diabetes care (Hemoglobin Alc testing, Low Density Lipoprotein testing, eye exam rates, and nephropathy screening).
“Our goal throughout Mercy Health System is to achieve quality care and set the bar for delivering the best and most efficient care to the community,” Robert Permut, MD, MSHA, CEO of the Mercy Physician Network said “We are proud of our dedicated physicians and staff who won this well-deserved award, which is proof of Mercy Primary Care practices’ commitment to excellence and to improving the adoption of healthy lifestyles, preventive care, and better chronic care management in the Springfield and West and North/Northeast Philadelphia areas.”
