Mercy Philadelphia Hosts Successful Senior Expo
West Philadelphia, PA (September 19, 2014): On Friday, September 19, Mercy Philadelphia Hospital played host to the 3rd Annual Senator Anthony Williams Navigating Life After 50 Senior Health Expo.
Over 400 people attended the free community event, which took place throughout the hospital. The large-scale event featured a variety of workshops, free health screenings, an exercise class, seminars, vendor tables, and complimentary lunch.
Attendees benefitted from free health screenings and assessments provided by Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, including blood pressure, Body Mass Index, Breast Cancer Risk Assessment, Foot Exams and an Ask the Pharmacist table.
In addition to free screenings and assessments, attendees also took advantage of a series of health presentations such as "Depression in the Elderly" presented by Psychiatrist Dr. Tahir Maqsood, "What's on Your Plate? Let's Talk Nutrition" presented by Clinical Nutritionist Michelle Brown, RD, LDN, CDE, and "The Importance of Colon Cancer Screening" presented by Gastroenterologist Dr. Ronald Concha-Parra.
