Samuel D’Antonio Named Philadelphia Business Journal “CFO of the Year”
Philadelphia (July 10, 2014) - Mercy Home Health and Mercy LIFE CFO Samuel D’Antonio was named the 2014 “CFO of the Year” by the Philadelphia Business Journal at the publication’s annual CFO of the Year Awards ceremony today.
D’Antonio, a South Philadelphia native, began his tenure with Mercy Health System in 2002 and has helped transform Mercy Home Health and Mercy LIFE into successful, sustainable senior healthcare organizations, all while upholding Mercy Health System’s spiritual mission to care for the underprivileged and underserved.
“Sam D’Antonio is a brilliant leader who is driven to identify opportunities for growth and improvement in operations. Sam demonstrates that patient experience and colleague engagement begins at the very top of Mercy Home Health and Mercy LIFE,” said Carol Quinn, chief executive officer of Mercy Home Health and Mercy LIFE. “Sam’s extensive experience with acute care organizations, combined with his unwavering drive for growth and dedication to Mercy’s Mission make him deserving of this great honor from the Philadelphia Business Journal.”
Having consulted for hospitals during mergers and acquisitions, D’Antonio brings to Mercy unique financial skills that enable the organizations to provide long-term sustainable care for underserved seniors in Philadelphia’s five-county area. His strategic business mindset guided his oversight and implementation of budgeting techniques to monitor revenue, costs, and cost-containment initiatives.
Under his guidance, Mercy LIFE established a non-traditional LIFE program within a residential facility for Deaf and blind seniors—called Mercy LIFE Valley View—on the Elwyn campus in Elwyn, PA. This growth expanded the organization’s territory beyond its original 13 Philadelphia zip codes to include all of Delaware County.
