Mercy Philadelphia Hospital Completes Installation of State-of-the-Art Imaging System

West Philadelphia, PA (January 6, 2014): Mercy Philadelphia Hospital has completed the installation of a new Q-RAD X-Ray System equipped with the highest capacity generator, within the hospital’s Radiology Department, that complements the recently installed state-of-the art Ultrasound and MRI scanners.

“The installation of the Q-RAD ceiling mounted system along with the Fuji Digital Radiography plate is just another step we are taking to further improve and enhance the continuum of radiologic care and diagnostic services we provide,” said MPH Executive Director/Administrator Susan Cusack. “The level of comfort experienced by our patients during these tests is central to their overall experience. This innovative system provides that extra level of comfort while still delivering quicker and higher quality X-Rays.”

This Radiographic (X-Ray) system offers an impressive elevating float-top table with an extra-wide design and 650 pound weight capacity, one of the highest in the Philadelphia area, ensuring the ability to accommodate the widest possible range of patients. Even more, the table can adjust to an extra-low position, only 21 inches above the floor, to assist elderly, handicapped or pediatric patients in moving more comfortably onto the table, and to facilitate easier patient transfers from stretchers or wheel chairs.

“The capabilities of this new X-Ray room will benefit both physicians and patients,” said Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Mercy Philadelphia Hospital Chair of Radiology David Mayer, MD, MS, FACR. “This new technology allows us to provide care to patients weighing as much as 650 pounds, while improving the accessibility and throughput for all patients requiring diagnostic radiology exams."

Mercy Philadelphia Hospital offers walk-in hours for all X-Rays: Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
