Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Opens New, Multi-Specialty Center
DARBY (August 3, 2015): A new multi-specialty center opened for patient care on the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital campus today. The renovated space, located on the first floor of the Medical Office Building, is now home to four Mercy Physician Network practices: Mercy Medical Associates at Darby (primary care), Mercy Gastroenterology, Women First at Darby (gynecology), and Mercy Infectious Disease.
“This is just one more way Mercy Health System is offering our communities convenient access to high-quality and specialized care,” says Kathryn Conallen, Mercy Health System Chief Executive Officer and Senior Vice President of Acute Care Operations. “We look forward to offering patients the next level of service and a positive experience in a modern and truly patient-friendly environment.”
The 15,000-square-foot multi-specialty center features 26 exam rooms, a central waiting room for all of the practices that will accommodate more than 60 patients, nine restrooms, two labs, Wi-Fi access, renovated elevators, and new furniture and artwork.
These enhancements were completed as part of the first phase of renovations in the Medical Office Building. The second phase of renovations is slated for completion in fall 2015.
According to Cheryl Kreider, Vice President for Ambulatory Growth for Mercy Health System, “Phase Two will include new space for additional specialty practices, including neurology, neurosurgery in affiliation with the Jefferson Neurosciences Network, and cardiothoracic surgery in affiliation with the Penn Heart and Vascular Network. In addition, orthopedics will be relocated to a renovated space that will also be closer to the diagnostic radiology area for faster turnaround and care.”
A community open house is scheduled for late September to showcase the new areas.
