Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals Celebrate Cancer Survivors
PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 9, 2016): On Sunday, November 6, Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Mercy Philadelphia Hospital hosted the Annual "Celebration of Life" Cancer Survivors' Day Luncheon at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. More than 70 patients who have or are still receiving care from either hospital were honored by members of the Mercy Cancer Care team.
The luncheon began with a prayer service followed by welcoming remarks from the hospitals’ Executive Director Susan Cusack. “You are our heroes,” said Cusack. “You have gone through challenges that nobody should have to, and here you are today. We are grateful to serve you and today, we are grateful and honored to be able to celebrate what you have overcome.”
Guests had a free, Thanksgiving-themed meal while enjoying the entertainment from Magic by Ed. The magician brought the survivors together with smiles and laughter, reminding them how wonderful it is to celebrate life.
The Annual Celebration of Life luncheon is part of the continuum of care offered through the nationally-accredited Mercy Cancer Care program.
