Mercy Health System Launches Oncology Rehab Services
Conshohocken, PA (January 26, 2016): The Mercy Cancer Care program has announced the launch of outpatient rehabilitation services designed to help patients thrive during and after cancer treatment.
“Cancer treatment can be exhausting for the body, mind, and spirit. Rehabilitation can do wonders for cancer patients who are looking to regain their energy, decrease pain and discomfort, and restore function,” says Michele Zappile, DPT, OCS, a physical therapist who is the administrative director of oncology at Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals. “We are pleased to offer customized services that give them the tools and strength to return to everyday living.”
Available at Mercy Fitzgerald, Mercy Philadelphia, and Nazareth Hospital, oncology rehabilitation includes physical and occupational therapy services designed to address cancer-related fatigue, swelling in the arms, energy conservation, loss of motion, muscle or joint pain, difficulty walking, risk of falling, and burning or tingling in hands and feet (as a result of nerve damage from chemotherapy).
Oncology rehab is the latest addition to the comprehensive, person-centered services that the nationally accredited Mercy Cancer Care programs at Mercy Health System offer. The Mercy Cancer Care programs also include advanced diagnostics and cancer treatment technologies, support services, Spiritual Counseling, clinical trials, genetic testing and counseling, and survivorship programs.
A physician prescription is required for oncology rehab. To make an appointment for oncology rehab, call any of the locations below.
