Nazareth Hospital's PCI Program Re-Accredited by Corazon and the Pennsylvania Department of Health
NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (September 21, 2016) – Corazon, Inc., a national leader in services for the cardiovascular specialty based in Pittsburgh, has again granted re-accreditation to the PCI [angioplasty] program at Nazareth Hospital. Through a rigorous process, the accreditation proves that the program at Nazareth Hospital has met or exceeded the requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH), in accordance with the procedures finalized in January of 2014, such as providing 24-hour coverage for PCI emergencies, undergoing detailed quarterly quality reviews to ensure outcomes and practices are up to standard, and other such factors.
"Nazareth's reaccreditation, for the second year in a row, demonstrates our commitment to providing our community with access to the highest quality emergency heart attack care," said Nazareth Hospital Executive Director Nancy Cherone, FACHE.
Nazareth Hospital serves Northeast Philadelphia with a comprehensive continuum of heart care that includes advanced diagnostics, interventional expertise, acute care, rehabilitation and more. Nazareth Hospital is an affiliate of St. Mary Heart and Vascular Care, a partnership designed to strengthen regional excellence in cardiovascular care. Nazareth is also accredited as a Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), is nationally accredited by The Joint Commission for Heart Failure and is the recipient of multiple American Heart/Stroke Association Get With The Guidelines Gold Plus Awards for Heart Failure. In 2016, Nazareth Hospital’s Heart Station/Echo Lab located in Philadelphia, PA was granted a three-year term of accreditation in Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transthoracic by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC); and Nazareth earned the Mission: Lifeline Bronze Award from the American Heart Association for meeting quality measures while participating in this important national registry program.
