Mercy Hospitals Honor Patients at Annual Cancer Survivors Day Event
DARBY AND PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 7, 2018): Current and former cancer patients of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals reunited with their doctors, nurses and other caregivers at a Cancer Survivors celebration held at Mercy Fitzgerald on Sunday, November 4.
The candy-themed "Sweetness of Survivorship" event drew close to 100 attendees and kicked off with a prayer of thanksgiving service led by Sister Donna Watto, Vice President, Mission Integration. Survivors shared their stories, enjoyed a festive lunch and were entertained by a barbershop quartet. Speakers included Susan Cusack, President, Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals; Eugene Choi, MD, Medical Oncologist, Mercy Hematology/Oncology; Carmine Volpe, MD, Oncology Service Line Director, Mercy Health System; and keynote speaker Leon Clarke, MD, Director of Surgery and President of Medical Staff for Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals.
Cancer survivors enjoyed a festive candy-themed luncheon with the physicians, nurses and staff of Mercy Fitzgerald and Mercy Philadelphia Hospitals' Cancer Centers at an annual Cancer Survivors' celebration on November 4.
