How many categorical positions for PGY1 in Internal Medicine do you expect to offer?
For next year we are expecting to offer 9 categorical positions for the PGY1 year.
Does your program offer positions outside the Match?
No. Positions are only offered through the National Resident Matching Program.
Does one of my letters of recommendation have to be from the Chairman of Medicine?
No. We prefer that your recommendations be submitted by faculty members of your school who are well acquainted with you and your medical education experience. If you are an international medical graduate, it is preferred that at least one letter of recommendation be from a faculty member of an American teaching facility.
Does your program impose a limit on the graduate year of applications?
It is strongly preferred applicants have graduated from medical school within the past 3 years.
Will I be able to moonlight during my residency at Nazareth Hospital?
If you are in good academic standing, are able to keep within ACGME maximum hours allowed to work, and with the approval of the program director you are permitted to moonlight during your residency at Nazareth Hospital.
I didn’t hear anything from you, can I call or email to check on my application status?
All applications are reviewed through ERAS, and applicants are invited through ERAS. Applicants are discouraged from calling the program coordinators. Individual status updates will not be given via email or telephone.
Does your program accept COMLEX Scores?
Yes, as part of your application for Osteopathic Internal Medicine Residency Program.
Does Nazareth Hospital accept applications from graduates of international medical colleges?
Keeping in mind that the application process is very competitive, graduates of international medical colleges may submit an application. These applications must be submitted through the ERAS system and are processed using the same procedures used to evaluate all other applicants. Nazareth Hospital sponsors J-1 Visas. We currently do not sponsor H1B visas.
Are residents allowed to complete outside electives?
Under the discretion of the program director, generally residents are allowed to complete a total of 2 outside electives during their PGY 2 and PGY 3 years.
Does Nazareth Hospital offer observerships?
Yes, 1-week observerships are offered. Applicants are reviewed by the program director.
