Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital is a certified Primary Stroke Center

In stroke care, Mercy Fitzgerald follows best practice guidelines.

tjc sealMercy Fitzgerald Hospital is certified as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. That means Mercy Fitzgerald follows best practice guidelines to treat stroke patients, according to Neurologist Dr. Salman Wali.

“We follow these guidelines to make sure we treat strokes in a way that is considered the standard of care. Managing stroke patients focuses on treating acute symptoms, providing rehabilitation, and carrying out tests to pick a treatment that aims at preventing any future strokes from happening,” says Dr. Wali. “The Joint Commission reviews our care at random and also does site visits. They are making sure our patients receive care that is held to a high standard, and one that is continually improving.”
