Stretch those holiday dollars
Gift giving doesn’t have to take a big chunk out of your holiday budget.
Try these tips for simple, money-savvy holiday giving:
- Make a list of people you want to give gifts to. Then figure out how much money you are able to spend per person. Stick to that plan. Overspending will just cause stress and money problems.
- Save ahead. Put aside just a few dollars a week leading up to the holidays. You’ll be surprised at how quickly the money can add up.
- Find ways to give low-cost gifts. Go on a treasure hunt in a store that sells items for a dollar or less. Consider giving a homemade gift, like a hand-knit scarf or some yummy baked cookies. Or give the gift of your time: Wrap up a note offering to cook a meal or do some babysitting.
Remember, the holidays are about much more than gifts. They’re about spending time with your family and friends—and counting your blessings.
