Early detection is key to avoiding cancer

Cancer screenings should be a regular habit.

“Cancer screenings are very important because the earlier you detect cancer, the higher the chances of curing it,” explains Yasser Khoudeir, MD, an internal medicine specialist with Nazareth Hospital.

“Patients often ask me, ‘Why do I need these screenings? I’m feeling fine,’” says Dr. Khoudeir. “And my answer is that I want to keep them feeling fine. Today, there are excellent treatments for numerous cancers. The earlier we can start the treatment, the more effective it can be.”

Talk to your doctor about screenings that may be necessary based on your lifestyle and personal medical history.
